Advantage Multisport

Going Pro and Negative splitting first 100 miler.

Huge congratulations to Corbin Hudacek and Ali Riecke for their phenomenal results this weekend!  Corbin was Amateur champion at the Austin 70.3 with a monster bike and a 6min PR run to take the title decisively.  This win qualifies Corbin for his elite license, meaning he will be racing the professional 70.3 circuit in 2018.  Ali raced her first 100mile ultra at the Javelina Jundred to cap off a phenomenal long distance trail racing season.  Even more impressive was that she actually…

Lake Stevens Triathlon

It has been an extraordinary summer of racing for the squad.  This coach has been quite busy with coaching, neglecting my blogging and race reports, but I plan to play catch up and highlight so many of the great performances that have happened since June.  But first, a quick report from today’s racing at Lake Stevens.

Rolling into the Summer Races

Time has flown by since the last post, as it has been a very busy month and a half of coaching.  Amazing performances continue with the Advantage Multisport crew. With an improved emphasis on pacing and nutrition, Kevin Carter had a great race at the North Olympic Discovery Marathon, setting a PR in his build towards the Bigfoot 45mi trail race in July. Chris Chesson raced his first 70.3 in Victoria, pacing to finish strong and happy.  Bellingham ultra superstar Gina Crosswhite…

April Racing

Lots of challenging racing and great results happened this past month.  Ali Riecke and Andrew Bybee raced in the Deception Pass Trail Marathon and Half Marathon.  Ali set a huge PR going sub-5h for 7th overall in the marathon.  Andrew paced like a pro to finish his first trail half very strong in preparation for a trail marathon in May.  Both have been training very well and will be rocking the summer trail races this year. Patricia Oliveros placed top 10 in…

Winter Racing

Advantage Multisport athletes are showing great form in their buildups to spring and summer races.  We are seeing some fantastic performances indicating breakthrough fitness for the coming season.   A few other great performances that must be mentioned that I unfortunately don’t have pictures for:  Travis Millhollin placed 2nd age group in the Running O the Green 8k despite being in heavy Ironman training.  Kaitlin Sellereit ran a fantastic half marathon at the Birch Bay race in January, taking third in her…

Education and Planning

It has been a busy winter prepping Advantage Multisport athletes for their spring and summer races.  The crew is making incredible progress toward their goal races, and many have already shown some fantastic fitness in some B and C races so far.  I had the pleasure of listening to Joe Friel speak the last 2 days at TrainingPeaks University.  Always great to learn from a true Master.  Also learned some fantastic advanced planning and analysis concepts to implement to take the crew…

More Great End of Season Performances

Advantage Multisport athletes have been laying down some great racing the past couple weeks, both locally and around the country.  Brian Bowman ran his first ultramarathon at the Stumjumper 50k in Alabama.  In fact, it qualified as his first marathon as well, with only 7 months of training under his belt.  He pushed through 6700 vertical feet to finish strong as he builds for a 46miler in Dec.  Brian is a tough guy and student of the sport and will make a…

Wasatch 100, Best of the West, and Lake Stevens

A bit overdo on this report, but the past 2 weekends have been quite busy for Advantage Multisport athletes.  Lots of pictures to share, so I will let the pictures do most of the talking. What a fantastic summer it has been, and there are several fall and winter races coming up as well.  Thank you all for letting me be a part of your journey!
